New Readers--Introduce Yourself!

Welcome new readers! I'm glad you're here. Please take a minute to introduce yourself, so others can get to know you and stop by your site if you have one. (Thanks Jennifer at Conversion Diary for this idea!)

Some things to share:

1. Where do you live? What's your favorite thing about living there?

2. Do you have any kids and if so, how many? What parenting advice would you give in one sentence?

3. Do you have a blog? If so, what's the name and URL? What do you typically write about?

4. Tell me a little more about yourself: your favorite food, your hobbies, your profession?

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi! I look forward to getting to know you!

p.s. This post was originally for a giveaway--which is why you'll see the mention of it giveaway in some of the comments--but I learned so much about everyone in the comments that I wanted to save them and create an "introduce yourself" post. :)

Ahhh - a week on a houseboat - someday we'll make that happen! Too fun!

As for me - a boy, age 10 - going into 5th grade, and a girl, age 7, going into 2nd grade.

One of my favorite sayings in parenting is "This too shall pass" - particularly in the itty bitty years when you wonder if they'll ever be out of diapers!

KellieS said...

OK, so I have 6 kids. So...I decided to tell you about them in 6 separate comments.

The first...my beautiful daughter, Kori, who is married and serving in the US Navy. She has one of the most brilliant minds I know and is great at video games. Kori loves roller coasters, bats, whales, and is afraid of the dark at 24. She will still snuggle with me, her Marmie.

KellieS said...

The second...my modelesque, tall girl, Kayla, or Meg (middle name) as I call her. She is currently in Cosmetology school and flying past most of her classmates because she has been doing hair for a few years.

At 23, she is a gentle peacemaker who would do anything for anybody. An artist at heart, Meg is unique in all that she does. I love that she stays close to her family but shows a sense of independence.

KellieS said...

Number 3...Abigail (or Abbey) is 17 and totally independent. She is mostly focused on her studies; which is fine with me. Her friends are wonderful and keep her busy when she isn't in a book studying. I sometimes wish she would spend more time with me; I sort of miss her.

My future doctor, Abbey will be a strong leader and solid woman of the future.

KellieS said...

Number 4...McKenna, my glamour girl. She loves the mirror, clothes, shoes, and make up. Her bedroom sustains a tornado touchdown every morning before school while she figures out what to wear.
A keen artist, she hopes to have a career in fashion designing. I hope she does too; her sketches are fabulous! She's only 14, but I'm already having nightmares about her driving.

KellieS said...

Am I done yet? Oh, yeah, 2 more. My fifth child, Judah (the only boy) is my sweetheart. He loves his mom...and his X Box. At 12, he is just starting to become a young man who isn't quite interested in girls yet. I'm sure they are noticing him though; his sister cut his hair; it's worthy of a second look.

Maria@Conversations with Moms said...

I'm not participating in this giveaway since I'm not a US resident but wanted to say hello anyways. Thank you for passing by my blog.

KellieS said...

And then came number 6, Lyric, my 14-month-old. The oven obviously wan't done baking muffins yet. She is so lucky to have a mom who has 24 years experience. I think she is going to be a singer/dancer or some kind of interpreter.

I love snuggling with her in the morning after the other kids go to school. She took her first steps on Saturday - a joyous moment!

HI Genny!

I'm Kristin and I live in Jacksonville, FL right near the Mayo Clinic where my husband had a liver transplant Dec 23rd, 2005. I like living here because this is where I can help other transplant patients going through what we went through & we don't get snow!

I don't have children, but I love them dearly.

I blog every day at www.ttelroc.blogspot.com - called The Goat. I talk about things I love. Whether it's a palm tree or my nieces or things I find interesting. It's an eclectic mix of things, but always family friendly.

I'm really getting into photography. So much so that I'm going to start my own Etsy shop in the next few weeks. I rent furnished condos, that I own, to people going through Heart, Lung or Liver transplants. I love my family and I live 1200 miles away from them, but because of the internet I am blessed to be an active part of their lives.

Thank you Genny. I'm so happy that you have started blogging again!

2. I have two children, both boys. Carter is 4, and Tucker is 8 months. I would advise parents to be prepared for the unexpected, both good & bad! :)

3. I do blog, and I love it!!! My address is http://thedaysillremember.blogspot.com/
I blog about the little things that make up my family. The daily happenings of farm life and being the mother of boys... it gets interesting sometimes!!! :)

4. My job is being a mom. It's the hardest yet most rewarding job I have ever had. I have a passion for photography, which can you will see on my blog. I love to hear my children laugh, I love to hear my oldest son recite bible verses and sing songs I didn't even know he paid attention too. I love chicken, french-fries, ranch dressing and I love to eat out... because I do not like to cook!!!! I have been married to my husband since 2003, and we've been together since my senior year of highschool. I do hope you'll stop by my blog for a visit. Take care, God bless!

Hello Genny! (What a lovely name!)
Saw your link on Conversiondiary and wanted to say hi and thanks for the nice welcome to your wonderful blog!

1. Where do you live? What's your favorite thing about living there?

I live in the beautiful woods of Pennsylvania and my favorite part of that is that it is so easy to feel God's presence in this quiet, natural setting.

2. Do you have any kids and if so, how many? What parenting advice would you give in one sentence?

Yes, we are blessed with 10 children, ages: almost 25, 19,14, almost 13, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, and 2 1/2
One sentence? Ok: Surrender ALL to Christ.

3. Do you have a blog? If so, what's the name and URL? What do you typically write about?
We own a website called Homeschool Faith and Family Life which offers support, resources, and encouragement to family, faith, and homeschooling lifestyles. Find it at http://www.thebestofhomeschoolfaithandfamilylife.com/
I also blog on BENMAKESTEN at http://benmakesten.blogspot.com/
and DAILY BLESSINGS at http://www.momoften.webs.com/
My favorite memes are kept on A Thankful Woman's Book of Blessings:
http://thankfulwoman.blogspot.com/
and our nature blog, Backyard Glory can be reached through a link on these other sites!
I write about our daily homeschooling life and Catholic Faith and delight in sharing the JOY and Blessings, challenges and trials with others along the way!

4. Tell me a little more about yourself: your favorite food, your hobbies, your profession?
My profession is first and foremost as a homemaker and also working from home as the site owner/webmaster of the site I mentioned above. My hobbies are hanging out with my family, enjoying Mom's Nights with friends (in a special little corner we set up in my basement that we like to call "The Candle Room",)reading, discussing the Faith, blogging, and watching good movies.

God bless you and your beautiful family! Stop by sometime!

Our church, great thrift stores, fantastic quilt shops, beautiful parks, and an amazing library just around the corner from us.

I've just started my blog called Busy 'Lil Homemaker. I write about a little bit of everything, but hope to use it to share what the Lord is doing in our lives and to share tips for other moms. I'd love it if you'd stop by! http://busylilhomemaker.blogspot.com

4) I'm a stay at home mom, I love to read. My husband is a mortgage broker who works from home, so he tends to keep me busy with admin tasks when I'm not being a mom/wife. I enjoy sewing when I have someone who knows what they are doing helping me, I like to knit and am a nut about cleaning and organizing.
